Star Trek: Lower Decks” will warp back to TV this summer and the first trailer for the new season is promising more laughs in space.

Show creator Mike McMahan revealed an all-new teaser trailer for season two of “Lower Decks” following a “Second Contact” panel during the virtual global First Contact Day celebration today (April 5) by the Paramount+ streaming service.

McMahan also announced that the second season of “Lower Decks” will premiere on Aug. 12, 2021 and will consist of 10, half-hour episodes, just like Season one. And it’s been renewed for a third season! In case you missed season 1, it’s launching on Blu-ray on May 18.

True to form, the teaser is comprised mostly mayhem as we see Ensign Boimler (voiced by Jack Quaid) struggling at the helm of the USS Titan under the seemingly barking mad command of Captain Riker (voiced by Jonathan Frakes), together with a montage of quirky quickfire clips, featuring angry aliens along with Ensign Mariner (voiced by Tawny Newsome), Ensign Tendi (voiced by Noël Wells) and Ensign Rutherford (voiced by Eugene Cordero) plus what appears to be a new Miranda-class starship, the USS Macouff NCC 1877.
